Separatist Abkhazia Hosts Tactical Exercises with Russian Military

Separatist Abkhazia is hosting joint tactical exercises of units of the so-called Armed Forces of the Republic of Abkhazia and the Russian Federation.

"The exercises are defensive in nature and aim to ensure the security of the Republic of Abkhazia. Joint tactical exercises with live firing of the units of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Abkhazia and the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation are carried out to coordinate the actions of the troops in the performance of tasks for their combat mission," the report added.

The exercises cover the actions of combined arms units in defense and offensive. They are carried out simultaneously at all training grounds and in areas of terrain unfamiliar to the troops. In addition to the units of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Abkhazia and the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, reserve formations of wartime also participate in the exercises.

"Particular attention is paid to the introduction into the practice of training troops and forces of the experience of military conflicts at the present stage, taking into account the prospects for their development in the future," the Ministry of Defense of Abkhazia noted.
