On April 27, Aleksandar Vučić, the President of Serbia, received Sahil Babayev, the Minister of Labor and Social Protection of Azerbaijan, and thanked the Azerbaijani friends for their commitment to international law, shown during the vote in the Council of Europe (CoE), the Press Office of the Serbian President reported.

"Serbia considers such an act as an expression of sincere friendship," said President Vučić and sent warm greetings to President Aliyev. President Vučić also wished good work to the members of the Intergovernmental Committee for Economic Cooperation and Trade, which is co-chaired by Ministers Babayev and Selaković, and added that he hopes for even better results in strengthening cooperation in all areas, especially energy, agriculture, and tourism, as well as the defense industry.

Minister Babayev expressed his expectation that this year will also be successful for bilateral relations between Serbia and Azerbaijan, bearing in mind that the Serbian-Azerbaijani strategic partnership is recording a strong rise. He said that the Azerbaijani delegation came in large numbers and that he expects good results from the work of the Intergovernmental Committee and the Business Forum to continue the good dynamics of the development of cooperation, bearing in mind that the exchange has increased by 18 percent.

The two officials expressed the expectation that a direct flight line between Belgrade and Baku would be established by the end of the year.

Notably, at a CoE Committee of Ministers session on April 24, Azerbaijan voted against launching the procedure of reviewing so-called Kosovo’s application for admission to the CoE.
