SOCAR Eyes Role in Syria's Reconstruction and Energy Revival
On January 6, Elchin Ibadov, the CEO of SOCAR Türkiye Enerji, stated during a press conference in Istanbul that the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) is prepared to contribute to Syria's energy supply if such a decision is made at the state level.
Ibadov expressed optimism regarding establishing peace and stability in Syria and the broader region. "This will be followed by economic development, which in turn will increase the electricity demand," he said.
Ibadov emphasized that energy would be essential for construction, restoration, and the revival of various sectors. He further noted, "If the government, from a political perspective and by the interests of Azerbaijan and Türkiye, assigns such a role to SOCAR Türkiye Enerji, we will gladly fulfill it."
