
Speakers of Parliaments of Azerbaijan, Turkey, and Iran Meet in Antalya

On January 9, within the framework of the 13th Plenary Session of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly held in Antalya, Turkey, Sahiba Gafarova, the Speaker of the Azerbaijani Parliament, and Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, the Speaker of the Islamic Council of Iran, had a meeting, the Press Office of the Azerbaijani Parliament reported.
The current issues of the bilateral agenda, the situation in the region during the post-conflict period, and other matters of mutual interest were exchanged at the meeting. The information said that Sahiba Gafarova informed about Azerbaijan's initiatives to ensure peace and security in the region and develop cooperation. The current state of inter-parliamentary relations was also discussed at the meeting.
On the same day, a tripartite meeting was held between Sahiba Gafarova, Mustafa Şentop, the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, and Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf.
The meeting focused on developing, deepening, and progressing economic and political relations and solving regional problems.
Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf stated, "We do not accept any geopolitical changes on the border. As a neighboring country, Azerbaijan has a special importance for the Islamic Republic of Iran, and in addition to bilateral relations, inter-parliamentary relations can play a significant role in relations." According to him, the two countries strive to develop and deepen relations.
