Turkish Foreign Minister met with Ilham Aliyev and Jeyhun Bayramov
On March 5, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu held talks with President Ilham Aliyev and Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov during his visit to Baku.
The issues of deepening Azerbaijani-Turkish relations and ensuring regional security were discussed at the meetings.
At the joint press conference of the foreign ministers after the meetings, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov said that friendly, fraternal, and allied relations between Turkey and Azerbaijan have always been close.
According to him, the Shusha Declaration was signed during the post-war period, which is an important document for the security of the region.
"We discussed the opening of transport and communications between Armenia and Azerbaijan. At the same time, we exchanged views on the normalisation of relations between Turkey and Armenia.
According to Bayramov, mutual trade turnover between the two countries continues to grow. The volume of Azerbaijani investments in Turkey has reached $9.3 billion.
Speaking about the crisis in Ukraine, the Azerbaijani Foreign Minister said that the situation in this country is a matter of serious concern and Azerbaijan supports the settlement of the conflict within the framework of international law.
"The number of casualties is constantly growing. Azerbaijan and Turkey have a very responsible position here. Calls for dialogue and a peaceful solution are examples of this. It is important to continue negotiations between the parties," the minister said.
Bayramov said that Azerbaijan continues to provide humanitarian assistance to Ukraine.
"At the request of Ukraine, within 24 hours, Azerbaijan delivered humanitarian aid worth 5.5 million euros to Ukraine via Poland," he said.
Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu said that Turkey is acting together with Azerbaijan in relations with Armenia.
"Our main goal is to resolve other issues, especially the Zangezur corridor."
He said he supported Azerbaijan's peace proposal to Armenia.
"We hope that Armenia will respond to this," he added.
Speaking about Ukraine, Çavuşoğlu said that Turkey, like everyone else, is against the forcible change of the territorial integrity of countries.
