UK Imposes Sanctions on North Caucasus Leaders; Dagestani Leader Responds
Sergey Melikov, the Head of Dagestan, who was included in the UK sanctions list, said he is not worried abouth this.
"A large number of my colleagues, Russian political and military figures, have already been included in this list and are feeling quite well and experiencing no suffering," Dagestan's President emphasized.
"From the very beginning to the end, I supported and continue to support the actions of the Russian Federation during the special military zone. I will support those servicemen who today defend the freedom of our country, its integrity, and its indivisibility, including in new territories. I am a soldier of my country, a soldier of our president, and I will do what our supreme commander orders," Melikov added.
Notably, on November 23, the UK imposed sanctions on 22 high-ranking Russian officials for their involvement in the forced mobilization and encouragement of mercenaries.
British Foreign Secretary James Cleverly said: "The Russian regime's decision to partially mobilize was a desperate attempt to defeat the valiant Ukrainians defending their territory. It failed. Today we have sanctioned the individuals who secured this call, sending thousands of Russian citizens to fight in Putin's illegal and heinous war."
The sanctions list includes federal officials - Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov, who oversees the military industry and is responsible for equipping and equipping the mobilized, the head of the CEC, Ella Pamfilova, who is responsible for organizing and holding the so-called referendums in four temporarily occupied regions of Ukraine, and the head of the Federal Penitentiary Service, Arkady Gostev - for assistance in the recruitment of prisoners in the Wagner PMC. Also, sanctions were imposed on the head of the election commission of the Rostov region Andrey Burov, the head of the department of the Federal Penitentiary Service for the Rostov region Dmitry Bezrukikh, the military commissar of the region Igor Yegorov.
