U.S. Ambassador to Armenia Kristina Kvien hopes that the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh will be able to live safely as part of Azerbaijan. She said this in an interview with Public Television of Armenia.

According to her, the US hopes and thinks it is feasible and encourages all parties to work together to uphold these rights and safety. She pointed out that all sides have stated their support for ensuring the safety and rights of those residing in Nagorno-Karabakh, and it is now up to them to do so. She said that the United States has long and vehemently advocated for the protection of the rights and safety of persons residing in Nagorno-Karabakh, as well as the necessity of dialogue and a resolution that will do so.

According to Ambassador Kvien, the US firmly believes that these principles must be upheld in the ongoing discussions towards a solution because she personally believes that people in Nagorno-Karabakh should be able to feel safe in their own homes, in their environment and be able to lead a peaceful family life and be involved in their communities. Regarding the possibility of dialogue between Nagorno-Karabakh and Azerbaijan, the US Ambassador said that any discussion, negotiation, and conversation is the right course of action. "It is still necessary to fully understand the issues that both sides are concerned about to find a way to a peaceful resolution in the future, which will ensure and secure the rights and security of the residents of Nagorno-Karabakh," she added.
