Armenia, Netherlands Discuss Deepening EU Ties and Regional Peace

On December 2, in The Hague, Ararat Mirzoyan, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, met with Reinette Klever, Minister for Foreign Trade and Development of the Netherlands.

The two discussed opportunities to enhance sectoral cooperation alongside the active political dialogue between their countries. They highlighted areas of mutual interest, including water resources management, healthcare, and economic cooperation through investments.

Minister Mirzoyan emphasized Armenia's appreciation for Dutch support in reforms related to democracy, the rule of law, and human rights, as outlined in the priorities of the Dutch coalition government. Both sides underlined the importance of continued collaboration in these areas and explored prospects for further deepening the Armenia-EU partnership. Mirzoyan presented Armenia's "Crossroads of Peace" initiative, aimed at regional connectivity and lasting peace in the South Caucasus, and addressed measures to support Armenians displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh.

On the same day, within his working visit to The Hague, Mirzoyan also met with his Dutch counterpart Kaspar Veldkamp. The ministers discussed expanding the bilateral agenda, building on the strong foundations of recent cooperation, and enhancing the partnership through joint efforts. They reviewed the prospects for further development in key areas and the deepening of Armenia-EU relations.

Minister Mirzoyan reiterated the importance of the Netherlands as a partner in advancing Armenia's cooperation with the EU based on shared democratic values. Discussions included regional developments, the normalization of Armenia-Azerbaijan relations, and Armenia's commitment to signing a peace treaty. The "Crossroads of Peace" project was also discussed in the context of developing regional communications.
