Azerbaijan Again Calls on Armenian Representatives of Karabakh to Meet in Baku

On March 27, the Administration of the President of Azerbaijan once again proposed to hold the second meeting with representatives of the Armenian community of Karabakh in Baku.

It is reported that they once again propose holding a meeting in Baku in the first week of April to discuss the issues of reintegration of the representatives of the Armenian community of Karabakh and the implementation of infrastructure projects in this region.

For its part, the de facto Foreign Ministry of the internationally unrecognised Republic of Nagorno-Karabakh issued a statement rejecting Baku's invitation.

"We reiterate that the continued blockade of the Lachin Corridor and the aggravation of the humanitarian crisis in Artsakh are unacceptable and in no way contribute to the creation of an environment conducive to dialogue. We are convinced that only the proper implementation by Azerbaijan of its international obligations, both under the Trilateral Statement of 9 November 2020 and the Order of the International Court of Justice of 22 February 2023, can demonstrate Azerbaijan's willingness and interest in resolving issues through dialogue and negotiations without resorting to coercion and the use of force," the statement said.

"We reiterate the inadmissibility of politicising the dialogue on technical and humanitarian issues and stress that the political issues of the Azerbaijan-Karabakh conflict settlement must be discussed in an agreed and internationally established negotiating format, based on the equal rights of the parties and the existence of solid international guarantees for the implementation of their obligations by the parties," the de facto ministry concluded.

As previously reported by Caucasus Watch, on March 13, the Azerbaijani Presidential Administration stated that Azerbaijan offered Karabakh Armenians a meeting in Baku. "The Administration of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan invites the representatives of the Armenian community of Karabakh to a second meeting to discuss the issues of continuing contacts related to reintegration, as well as the implementation of infrastructure projects in Karabakh," the information said.
