Iranian Parliament Condemns Azerbaijan for Opening Embassy in Israel

| News, Politics, Azerbaijan

On April 5, 210 deputies of the Iranian parliament condemned the opening of the Azerbaijani Embassy in Israel. They called on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran to take diplomatic measures in this regard.

The statement said that Azerbaijan's government is acting against the interests of the Islamic world by opening its embassy in Israel and presenting its ambassador to a fake regime with an unthinkable act against the interests of the Islamic world. "This step of the Azerbaijani government will cause many negative political consequences, and the world's Muslims will see them as accomplices of the Zionist regime, which is killing and suffering the Palestinians. The Iranian parliament has called on the governments of Arab and Islamic countries and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to condemn this step of Azerbaijan," the information added.

The Iranian parliament proposed to send a corresponding appeal to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran to all Islamic countries.

Notably, Azerbaijan recently opened an embassy in Israel, which led to a diplomatic row between Azerbaijan and Iran. Tehran viewed the embassy's opening as a provocative move by Azerbaijan. Iranian officials criticized Azerbaijan's decision and warned that it could negatively affect the region. They also accused Azerbaijan of violating Islamic solidarity and disregarding the Palestinian cause. In response, Azerbaijan rejected Iran's criticism and defended its decision to open the embassy, citing its right to establish diplomatic relations with any country it chooses. Azerbaijani officials also emphasized their commitment to the Palestinian cause. They noted that they had provided humanitarian assistance to the Palestinian people.
