Pensions Payment for Russians in Abkhazia Approved as Putin Signs Ratification Protocol

Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law on the ratification of the protocol to the agreement with separatist Abkhazia on strengthening control over the spending of Russian funds for the payment of pensions and additional payments to them to Russian citizens living in Abkhazia.

The document establishes the procedure for the return by the Abkhaz side of the amounts of pensions and additional payments to them in the event of untimely provision of information about the occurrence of circumstances providing for the termination of payments - the death of a citizen, moving from Abkhazia, loss of citizenship of the Russian Federation, the establishment of pensions for a citizen above the average level.

"The adoption of the federal law is in the interests of the Russian Federation and will contribute to the further improvement of the organization of work on pension provision for Russian citizens living on the territory of the Republic of Abkhazia," the document stressed.
