On February 6, Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili delivered her final annual address to Parliament, touching upon critical issues ranging from security challenges and democracy to Georgia's European integration aspirations and the upcoming elections.

Zourabichvili highlighted the persistent threats posed by Russia's hybrid warfare tactics, emphasizing the ongoing occupation of Georgian territories and Russia's aggression in Ukraine. She outlined various manifestations of Russia's hybrid war against Georgia, including attempts to build a naval base in occupied regions, human rights violations, and anti-Western propaganda.

The President criticized the consolidation of power and erosion of democratic principles in Georgia, citing legislative changes and attempts to curtail civil society's autonomy. She lamented the imbalance between government branches and the ruling party's dominance in Parliament, underscoring the need for independent institutions and effective checks and balances.

Zourabichvili expressed concerns over Georgia's European orientation amidst growing anti-Western sentiments and softening stances towards Russia. She emphasized the importance of upholding European values and aligning Georgia's policies with EU standards to strengthen its foreign orientation.

The President directly addressed Prime Minister candidate Irakli Kobakhidze, urging him to articulate plans for judiciary reform, combating corruption, and electoral administration. She also called upon Bidzina Ivanishvili, a prominent political figure, to clarify his intentions and transition towards a democratic governance model.

Zourabichvili underscored the significance of the upcoming parliamentary elections in determining Georgia's future trajectory. She urged the opposition to prioritize unity and engage in constructive dialogue while encouraging active participation from the diaspora and youth.

Moreover, the President announced plans to establish a "Platform of Unity for Europe" to foster consensus on European priorities across political and civil society spectrums. She emphasized the platform's role in promoting European values and advancing Georgia's integration efforts.
