Tensions Grow Along Border: Armenia Reports Two Indian Workers Injured; Azerbaijan Reports Escalation by Armenia
On June 15, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry reported that we strongly condemn the military provocation of the Armenian armed forces against the departure point from the state border of Lachin, which resulted in the injury of a military employee of the State Border Service.
"This military provocation, besides being an aggression against the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, aims to hinder the successful operation of the border crossing point on the Azerbaijani side, the safe, free, and unhindered passage of Armenian residents, as well as the movement of the Lachin road," the report added.
"This military provocation by Armenia, which cannot digest the free movement of Armenian residents from the exit point without any difficulty, is a clear example of Armenia's lack of interest in building relations with Azerbaijan and the peace process," the information stated.
"Such military provocations by Armenia will be resolutely prevented, and attempts by Armenia to prevent the reintegration of Armenian residents of Azerbaijan into our society will fail. We call on the international community to strongly condemn this provocation by Armenia and to prevent Armenia from aggressive actions that threaten peace and stability in the region," it said.
On the same day, the Press Office of the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry reported that from 08:35 to 10:30, members of illegal Armenian armed groups in the territory of Azerbaijan, where Russian peacekeepers are temporarily stationed, tried to install long-term fortification devices in front of the positions of the Azerbaijani Army located in the direction of Fuzuli region under the name of agricultural work.
"As a result of urgent measures taken by our units, the works were immediately stopped. In addition, around 08:45, members of illegal Armenian armed groups opened fire on the positions of our Army located in the direction of the Fuzuli region. Adequate response measures were taken in the mentioned direction by the units of the Azerbaijan Army," it said.
