Azerbaijani MPs Continue Put Pressure on Iran

| News, Politics, Azerbaijan

"Iran will not have the strength to prevent the opening of the Zangezur Corridor"

Azerbaijani MP Hikmat Babaoğlu spoke about “Iran's provocations” against Azerbaijan.

"It is a pity that Iran believes that strengthening Azerbaijan will be a center of attraction for more than 35 million Azerbaijanis living in Iran," he said, hinting at a large number of Azerbaijani ethnics living in the north of Iran.

He noted that if we approach the issue somewhat historically, the current situation is inevitable: "Because the rights of Azerbaijanis living in Iran, i.e., a whole nation, are restricted, their education in their native language is restricted, their human rights are not recognized, as a result, the rights of Azerbaijanis living in Iran are violated. In this context, Azerbaijan should definitely stand by its compatriots, and the position of Azerbaijan is very clear in this regard. The rights, freedoms, and security of our compatriots living in Iran are our issue. In this case, the Iranian issue is not in a legal context but rather by its constitution," the MP added.

Commenting on the provocative statement of Iran's Ambassador to Armenia regarding the Zangazur Corridor, Babaoğlu said that Iran will not be able to prevent the opening of the “Zangazur Corridor”.

"Therefore, Iran's only ally today is an aggressive, provocative, and terrorist nation. It is Armenia and its allies with a country similar to itself. In other words, Iran is also terrorizing Azerbaijan, as well as Armenia," the Azerbaijani lawmaker added.

"But this radical position ultimately does not favor any of them. Because they will not be able to achieve their goals. It would be good if the Iranian officials saw the new balance of power formed in the region. If a country puts aside the achievement of its goals through diplomatic and political methods and terrorism, if it tries to do that, it means that country is already powerless, and Iran is doing it," the MP stated.

"There is a basis for the information that Iran is planning to cause sabotage on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, where there is no fire, there is no smoke"

Razi Nurullayev, the MP of the Azerbaijani Parliament, commented on the recent news in his statement.

The MP said that Azerbaijan's brave soldiers and officers could prevent all provocations and will do so: "Iran thinks 24 hours a day about what kind of provocations to carry out. There is, of course, a reason for the spread of information about Iran's planning to cause sabotage on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border together with Armenian armed forces. Where there is no fire, there is no smoke. Iran commits and continues to commit provocations against Azerbaijan, further straining our relations."

"Russia uses Armenia's card, and so does Iran. In general, many countries of the world use the Armenia card to put pressure on Turkey and Azerbaijan. This nation seems to have been created for exploitation, evil, and sabotage. If relations between Iran and Azerbaijan are settled tomorrow, although I do not believe in it, then Iran will hit Armenia like a soccer ball and throw it aside, and Armenia will have to look for its 'master' again. Today, Iran's policy against Azerbaijan is based on an attempt to weaken Azerbaijan, to use other countries, as if in their thinking, to prevent the 'threat from Azerbaijan.' As they perpetrate this provocation, the people of Azerbaijan become stronger and stronger," he added.

"The intention of the Iranian embassy in Baku to hold a holiday is inappropriate"

Azer Badamov, a member of the Public Unions and Religious Institutions Committee of the Azerbaijani Parliament, said, "The government of Iran should apologize to Azerbaijan for the terrorist act against our embassy in Tehran and ensure that the perpetrators of this attack are punished. But Iran shows by its actions that it does not want to make any new statements to Azerbaijan regarding the investigation's progress and results."

The MP recalled that the Iranian police tried to change the nature of the terror committed immediately after the armed attack on our embassy:

"At first, they said that the armed attack took place on a domestic basis. After we saw that the information they disseminated became a laughing stock and made sure no one believed it, we did not witness any new revelations. That is, there is no other point or basis that Iran can explain because the security cameras of our embassy recorded the incident with all its details. The terrorist guard is gesturing to the police and saying, 'Get out of here.' And the police, after receiving his command, quietly moved away from their post, and no action was taken against the armed attack. However, after the terrorist was neutralized by our employee, the Iranian police came and created a show. All these issues mean that the armed attack on our embassy was planned, and the organizers could not achieve their intentions," he added.

"I want to note that Iran's mullah regime has experience in committing terrorism and sabotage against embassies. Such incidents were also committed against the embassies of Russia, England, the United Arab Emirates, and the United States. Unfortunately, the Azerbaijani embassy became the next place of terrorism organized by Iran's special services," the MP stated.
